STEM Major Scholarship Opportunities

AFCEA offers several scholarships for students pursuing STEM degrees:

  • STEM Major Scholarship ($2,500) 
  • Cyber Security Scholarship ($5,000) 
  • Student Member Scholarship ($2,500) 

Note: Applicants only need to complete one application. You will automatically be considered for all AFCEA STEM Major Scholarships for which you are eligible.

 

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all the following criteria:

  • Must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time at a four-year accredited U.S. college or university.
  • Must be a sophomore or junior at the time of application.
  • Online degree programs are eligible.
  • Must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 in their current academic program.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Students NOT eligible for STEM Major Scholarships

The following applicants do not qualify for this scholarship program:

  • Students attending a community college who plan to transfer to a four-year institution
  • Students enrolled in a two-year college
  • Freshmen or seniors a a four-year university
  • High school seniors

 

Funding

Scholarship awards are dependent on the availability of funds. Awards may be applied only toward tuition and required course-related expenses, including fees, books, supplies, and equipment necessary for coursework at the university.

 

Cyber Security Scholarship 

Applicants for the Cyber Security Scholarship must meet all eligibility requirements of the STEM Majors Scholarship. In addition, applicants must be enrolled in one of the following majors:

  • Cybersecurity 
  • Computer Science 
  • Digital Forensics 
  • Information Assurance 
  • Information Technology 
  • Electronic Engineering 
  • Another field directly supporting U.S. cyber enterprises

Student Member Scholarship 

Applicants for the Student Member Scholarship must meet all eligibility requirements of the STEM Majors Scholarship. Applicants must also hold an active AFCEA membership -- either a student membership or a Junior Enlisted membership.

Application Process

Applications must include the following materials: 

  • A completed application form
  • At least one letter of recommendation from a professor at the applicant's current institution
    • Recommenders must their letters in pdf format via email to edfoundation@afcea.org
    • Applicants are responsible for coordinating submission with their recommender

 

  • Official transcript(s) reflecting all college-level coursework, including the Fall 2025 semester
    • If coursework in progress is not listed, applicants must submit registration documentation showing current enrollment
    • Transcripts must be submitted electronically through the applicant's school to edfoundation@afcea.org
    • If electronic submission is not possible, official documents must be mailed to the address below no later than May 1, 2026. Applications must be complete and include all required supporting documentation.
